Welcome, I’m Michelle Mackness
I’m a life coach based in Edmonton, Canada. I have a Master’s of Counselling and I’ve worked for over 25 years in the helping field, on the front lines and for the last 10 years as a therapist.
I’ve recently expanded my services to include life coaching, allowing me to help a wider range of people.
I have expertise in supporting individuals in creating boundaries, improving communication and connection with loved ones, and developing reality-based and effective action plans.

I provide life coaching services to individual adults and parents. I do not provide counselling, clinical or legal services.
Parenting
Are you overwhelmed by the gender-care landscape and confused about how to support your gender-questioning, -diverse or transitioned child? Are you trying to lovingly establish boundaries while maintaining or reconnecting with your teen, young adult or adult child? I can help.
Estrangement
Estrangements come in all shapes and sizes: emotional distance; stilted communication; no communication but still encountering each other at functions; weeks, months versus years. Examining relational ruptures and schisms can reveal new ways forward through the complex emotional landscape of estrangement. If you are struggling with guilt, shame, anger, grief, maintaining or forming new relationships, then let’s work together and explore the nuances of your estrangement, consider possibilities, and discover ways to move forward.
Substance Use
Have you moved out of active addiction, but still find yourself “white-knuckling” your way through your days? Are you struggling with a loved one’s substance use?
Looking to empower and encourage their agency and communicate love and support?

Grief and Loss
Are you feeling stuck in your grief? Has your life become stilted since your loss? Are you looking for a way forward that is meaningful and honours your loss?
I work with all types of loss, including: death of a loved one, relationship disintegration and estrangement, loss of health, loss of trust in systems that were meant to help you.
Pricing: $160 (CAD) per 50 minute session
Longer sessions are available and billed accordingly.

My Life Coaching Style and Approach
People have described me as warm, welcoming and reassuring. I am an attentive and empathic listener who is sensitive to my client’s personal and professional contexts and attentive to real-life limitations.
I have decades of experience connecting with all kinds of people from all walks of life. My experience on the front lines and in therapy rooms has sharpened my listening skills, my ability to establish meaningful connections with others as well as having increased my ability to bring nuanced thinking and understanding to my work.
My working style is collaborative, holistic, and informed by an existential worldview. My education and professional experience enable me to offer valuable conceptual understanding and professional skills to help you create positive change in your life.
In addition to my training and work history, I draw on my experiences of the human condition to enrichen my work. I know what it is to want change and feeling lost regarding next steps. I understand the frustration of setbacks and how hard it can be to overcome obstacles. If I have one pearl to share, it is this:
